One of my biggest clients in the Edinburgh area is looking for a senior/associate building surveyor to join their successful and growing team, offering the opportunity to join one of the leading International construction consultancy firms in the UK.
You will be part of a team of building surveyors covering all aspects of professional and project-related building surveying across the private and public sector. Working in this role will involve assisting in the management of client and project teams to deliver building surveying services profitably and on time to a wide range of clients. The role will cover the full spectrum of building surveying services, including design and specification, clerk of works, contract administration, building surveys and dilapidations.
Core duties will involve:
1. Delivering projects, commissions, and professional assignments from inception to completion.
2. Maintaining effective communication to ensure all information is available for the successful completion of projects and liaising with other managers to ensure efficient financial control.
3. Assisting with the management of client/project teams to deliver building surveying services profitably and on time.
4. Visiting sites to undertake surveys, meet with sub-contractors, contractors, clients, and other staff as required to deliver projects.
5. Representing the company in a professional manner, meeting, negotiating, and corresponding with clients to form strong and long-lasting working relationships.
Ideal skills and attributes needed:
1. BSc in building surveying or equivalent.
2. Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) beneficial.
3. Proficient skills in the use of AutoCAD and NBS beneficial.
4. Experience in the higher education, local government, and healthcare sectors beneficial.
5. Significant exposure to, and good working relations with, private and public sector clients beneficial.
6. Well-developed skills in the areas of surveys, project management, clerk of works, repairs, and maintenance beneficial.
7. Good IT skills (AutoCAD, NBS, MS Project, Outlook, Word, Excel, and other software).
