Epicor ERP and IT Manager
The Role
This role is responsible for the management, support, evaluation and improvement of our ERP systems and processes (Epicor), and overseeing our IT hardware infrastructure, in conjunction with our IT support partners.
Responsibilities
1. ERP / Epicor
o To provide subject matter expertise of the Epicor system - Understand how Epicor is used in our business and identify opportunities for efficiency and business process improvements.
o Day-to-day and on-going management of Epicor ERP for optimum performance.
o Identify and resolve issues that will prevent the delivery of business benefits, facilitating open communication and discussion between stakeholders, acting as functional expert for Epicor to resolve issues that are raised.
o Direct and manage multiple ERP / Epicor projects of varying complexities from Business Case to full deployment of new or upgraded versions of Epicor into IT, Finance and Distribution while identifying, assessing and managing risks to the success of the project.
o Work with third party suppliers to gather information or facilitate conversations to deliver our projects.
o Works with Epicor Consultants and Epicor Customer Support to ensure full utilisation of the software, and resolution of user and implementation issues.
o Planning/managing future improvements/customisations and upgrades to EPICOR.
o Epicor training for employees.
2. IT Management (in conjunction with IT support partners)
o Oversee and direct the service received from our selected IT support partners to ensure excellent availability of IT services for all employees.
o Lead IT Department operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
o Ensuring of the smooth running of all IT systems and software on a day-to-day basis.
o Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
o IT areas to oversee:
+ Deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, asset management and support of all IT systems, including servers, printers, phone systems, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.
+ Creation, administration and testing of disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) plans to minimise downtime and to keep the company working.
+ Network monitoring using appropriate tools and ensuring maximum uptime and to maintain quality of service.
o Planning and negotiating IT contracts to gain the most cost-effective result and to negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements.
o Evaluate company process and procedures; and recommending and implementing planned improvements on an ongoing basis to software and hardware systems – by evaluating outcomes, identifying problems, evaluating trends and anticipating requirements.
o Benchmark, analyse, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and upgrading of IT infrastructure and IT systems.
o Manage the small internal IT support team to provide product end-user support via email and telephone.
o Mentor and train other members of staff on IT use and systems.
Requirements
* University degree or equivalent in the field of computer science with around 4 years relevant experience, ideally gained in a logistics, finance or distribution background.
* Good understanding of Epicor ERP, ideally with past experience as a Developer or Systems Analyst with strong SQL skills.
* Excellent understanding of project management principles (Certification in a Project Management discipline would be a plus).
* Demonstrable continuous improvement experience.
* General technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems (e.g. Microsoft Windows applications and Windows 365) with a general awareness of current network hardware, security, protocols, and standards.
* Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws including knowledge of GDPR.
* Ability to evaluate, learn and improve the use of business applications - e.g. Reporting, document management, ERP etc.
* Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required.
* High competence in project and stakeholder management.
* Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
* A ‘hands on’ and practical approach, acts strategically whilst leading and directing on execution and implementation.
* Willingness to travel to our Nottingham site from time to time.
