Description Grade UE04: £25,433 - £28,081 per annum, pro-rata as part-time (This pro-rates to £20,346.40 with progression up to £22,464.80 per annum, based on 28 hours per week) University Secretary’s Group/Student Experience Services/Institute for Academic Development Part-time: 28 hours per week (0.8 FTE) Open-ended: permanent The Opportunity: The Institute for Academic Development (IAD) are looking for a suitably experienced and motivated individual to join our small events operations sub-team, within our wider Operations and Projects team. The post holder will provide general support for the planning and delivery of running in-person and online training courses or events, collating management information, distributing publicity materials, and supporting routine operational admin tasks. On a day-to-day basis, the post-holder’s example tasks may include: gathering and checking workshop details from tutors and teaching staff; setting up workshops and events for booking on various in-house systems; updating the event planning admin records; all aspects of pre- and post-workshop administration; moderating online workshops; marking event attendances and collating event feedback; answering or escalating email queries from workshop attendees and tutors; updating monthly newsletters and similar promotional materials; some general office responsibilities such as receiving parcels, greeting visitors, and answering telephone enquiries. This role requires strong personal organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, good time-keeping, and the ability to learn, understand and follow a range of standardised operational administrative procedures. We will provide on-the-job training and written guidelines for our in-house systems and operational ways of working. The Institute for Academic Development is located in Edinburgh’s beautiful Old Town. We are a medium-sized support service department of 45–50 staff based in a modern University complex, just off Holyrood Road. We are just a 5-10 minute walk from the central Waverley train station and Princes Street area, thus have excellent bus and train link access. We are open to hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working. We will require that this specific post holder works on campus in the office a minimum of 2 days a week, these two days will likely be Mondays and Tuesdays. The 28 hours could be split over 4 or 5 days. The start time of the working day would not be later than 9am. Your skills and attributes for success: Vocational qualifications (N/SVQ 2/3, ONC or equivalent) and/or relevant work experience. Experience of event management.
