The Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust have undergone an exciting change. By pulling together a Single Corporate Services Division across both Trusts we will streamline processes, improve employee experience, and return time to patient care.
In light of this change, we are seeking an experienced Commercial Business Partner to leverage their expertise in supporting the development and implementation of the Trusts Commercial Strategy.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate will possess outstanding commercial acumen in business case development, complemented by strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to build effective relationships with key stakeholders. This individual will represent the Commercial Director and Deputy Commercial Director, collaborating closely with designated internal divisions to identify and implement commercially innovative solutions that align with the strategic objectives of the Trust.
Candidates must be highly organised and self-motivated, capable of managing a complex workload while supporting both the Commercial Director and Deputy Commercial Director. They should excel in prioritising and balancing multiple meetings and competing demands from both internal and external stakeholders.
Furthermore, the successful candidate should be proficient in leading and managing complex stakeholder groups to achieve results within tight deadlines, ensuring alignment with both divisional and Trust strategic goals. They will be responsible for maintaining accuracy and consistency in progress and governance reporting while providing ownership and guidance across a range of projects and initiatives. This includes documenting and presenting critical business information and identifying risks that require immediate attention.

The creation of a single corporate service is essential for us to support our clinical and operational services, and our wider transformation programme.
The single corporate service is delivered across both organisations. You may be based at either IWT or PHU and individuals may be required to undertake business travel between sites. For leaders managing staff across multi-site locations, you will need to be visible and provide in-person leadership. The arrangements and frequency will be agreed locally.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic advice and guidance on Commercial matters at a senior level within the organisation up to and including executive/board level working alongside the trusts Commercial Director.
* Provide professional leadership and advice on all aspects of Commercial matters to other CFO directorate staff, senior managers and Directors of the Trust.
* Lead on the development of Commercial activities. Advise, negotiate and act for the Trust on highly complex PFI, FM, Capital and Commercial issues locally, regionally and nationally.
* Participate in Trust initiatives aimed at improving services, value, reducing cost or generating revenue and ensure incorporation into Commercial propositions.
* Monitor changes in legislation, complex technical guidance, NHS standards and local developments, interpret, assess and ensure they are reflected, where necessary by negotiation with NHS core functions and Partners.
* Lead on commercial aspects of new propositions and projects.
* Support the Trust in identification and delivery of cost-saving initiatives.
