One of my local government clients are currently recruiting an experienced Network Telephony Engineer on a temporary basis. This is a 3-month minimum contract with the possibility of the role being extended further to work Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Hybrid working role were, however, you will be required to attend the office 2/3 times a week.
Overview:
* Support the council's migration from PSTN to VoIP networking, ensuring all assets are mapped and transitioned in line with industry standards in advance of the national PSTN switchoff.
* Management of the network infrastructure and resources (including any bought-in services) required to plan for, develop, deliver and support Digital services and products to contribute to the achievement of the Council’s corporate objectives.
* Carry out a direct audit of physical assets, developing an asset improvement plan. Regular travel to sites across Lewisham will be required. Ensure this asset improvement plan is communicated to senior stakeholders.
* Responsible for network specification and design. Produce network design policies, philosophies and criteria covering connectivity, capacity, interfacing, security, resilience, recovery, access and remote access. Deliver agile, evergreen services.
* Create and maintain overall network plans to support the Council's business strategy, agree service level agreements with business users and plan all aspects of the infrastructure necessary to ensure provision of voice and data network services to meet such agreements.
Responsibilities:
* Management of the network infrastructure and resources required to plan for, develop, deliver and support Digital services and products to contribute to the achievement of the Council’s corporate objectives.
* Preparation for new or changed services, management of the change process and the maintenance of regulatory, legal and professional standards. The management of performance of network related systems and services in terms of their contribution to business performance and their financial costs and sustainability. The management of bought-in services. The development of continual service improvement plans to ensure the IT infrastructure adequately supports business needs.
* Carry out or direct regular audit of assets, developing an asset improvement plan. Regular travel to sites across Lewisham will be required. Ensure this asset improvement plan is communicated to senior stakeholders.
