Department: Hospitality Reports to: Hospitality General Manager Hours of Work & Contract: Full time, working 5 days out of 7, to include weekends, Bank Holidays and very occasional late nights. Job Summary: Focusing on the Customer Facing areas, the Assistant Hospitality Manager will be an important part of a team that operates a Restaurant, Café, Play Area Café, and several on-site satellite kiosks. Responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience, the role will involve scheduling and leading a team of up to 14 in the main restaurant. Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications • Have a minimum of 2 years customer facing, hospitality experience in a large scale operation. • Have previous managerial experience within customer facing, hospitality environment, as supervisor or assistant manager. • Be focused on delivering the best customer experience possible. • Preferably hold a personal drinks licence or be prepared to work towards. • Have excellent hands-on organizational skills. • Have strong planning and supportive skills. • Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written. • Proven team building skills. • High a good working level competency in Word and Excel. • Have an excellent understanding and experience of EPOS systems. • Have an understanding of the local and national dining out ‘daytime’ trends. • Be commercially astute and be able to demonstrate an excellent ability to support the delivery of budgetary controls while maintaining a focus on building sales. • Good interpersonal and customer facing skills, able to empathize, maintain professionalism, display patience and politeness in all circumstances. • Have a conscientious, flexible ‘can do attitude’. • Good attention to detail with a hands-on the, lead from the front approach. • Good knowledge of current health and safety requirements. Main Duties & Responsibilities: • Be part of the Hospitality Managerial team and deputise as and when required. • Focus on delivering exceptional customer experience. • Take on specifics roles, duties, and responsibilities as may be agreed with the General Hospitality Manager. • Support the hospitality leadership and management function covering primarily the restaurant, but may include the café, play area and satellite operations. • Have a hands on approach, leading from the front and setting the highest standards possible. • Be part of the Senior Leadership Team. • Support other departments within Hollybush Garden Centre as may be required. • Deliver the highest possible service standards while maintaining a friendly, family orientated approach. • Work within agreed budgetary guidelines with a view to enhancing sales and customer footfall. • Continuously support the review of operational costs and deliver savings where possible without impacting on standards. • Maintain the highest 5 level of food hygiene and health and safety. • Support the recruitment process for all front of house staff. • Carry out staff inductions and reviews as agreed with the Hospitality General Manager. • Ensure the highest possible standards of training in service, quality, and product knowledge. • Ensuring teamwork is at the heart of all decisions. • Support daily briefings and attend weekly managerial meetings. • To respond to customer requests and feedback within agreed parameters and to suggest improvements to service or operation to avoid negative repetition. • Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations. • Ensure that all data collected is done so within the GDPR framework. • Maintain excellent communication and relationships between restaurant, kitchen, administrative teams, and other departments within Hollybush Garden Centre. • Support the Hospitality General Manager and kitchen team to develop menus, promotional activity, and events, focusing on seasonality. • Support the Hospitality General Manager in the day-to-day control of the P&L and structure staff deployment to maximise customer experience and sales. • Supervision of budgetary targets and trackers to measure performance include taking measured remedial action. • Review all stock loss prevention controls and help develop practices specific to the needs of business. • Support all purchasing requirements within agreed budgetary guidelines. • Ensure restaurant staff are always appropriately dressed and offer professional, courteous service at all times. • Ensure the restaurant is maintained to the highest standard to include ongoing housekeeping & planned maintenance. • Attend any development courses as may be deemed appropriate. • Assist Hollybush Garden Centre in achieving national recognition, including trade awards. • Be a designated key holder. • Attend trade events. • Undertake investigations and take corrective action where appropriate. Other Duties & responsibilities: • Any other duties that may be deemed necessary, including deputising for senior members of the team.
