This is a Monday to Friday working schedule of 40 hours per week, and you can enjoy your lunch at our subsidized on-site canteen. The role: As our Engineering Supervisor you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and technicians to ensure the efficient and safe operation of our food processing and packaging machinery. You will manage both planned and corrective maintenance through the daily and weekly maintenance schedules, as well as addressing ad-hoc repair requests and equipment breakdowns and to oversee our engineering operations within the food production industry. Day-to-day tasks will include:
* Manage the engineering team to achieve operational targets and continuous improvement goals.
* Manage contractors for both maintenance and project work with some weekend work required on an adhoc basis.
* Collaborate with the Engineering Planner to schedule planned maintenance, corrective actions, and weekend work.
* Managing the planning and execution of maintenance activities, ensuring alignment with operational and production needs.
* Manage and report on priority issues during daily and weekly operations reviews.
* Provide hands-on support for breakdowns and repairs as needed.
* Coach and train engineering staff on specialised tasks and jobs.
* Perform root cause analysis for equipment breakdowns and recurring issues affecting production.
* Manage team expectations and performance during shifts.
* Develop and implement maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods for food processing and packaging equipment.
* Drive innovation and improvement projects to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless production flow and adherence to safety and quality standards.
* Manage budgets, procurement, and inventory of engineering parts and equipment.
* Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support for complex engineering issues.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Mentor and develop team members through training and performance evaluations.
Qualified Engineer (Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification).
* Experience in a food manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in food processing equipment.
* Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
* Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
* Team player with the ability to work under pressure.
