Are you a Dietitian who is looking to work in an acute general hospital environment with opportunities to develop specialist skills? We are looking for a Dietitian to join the Nutrition and Dietetic team to provide a service to both adult inpatients and outpatient clinics. We are a friendly & supportive team of Dietitians, Dietetic Assistants & Nutrition Nurses with bases in Peterborough City Hospital and in Hinchingbrooke Hospital Huntingdon. Your base will be at Peterborough City Hospital, but may involve working across Trust sites at times according to service demand. There is easy access between sites by car or train.
Band 5 rotations offer experience in areas such as critical care, gastroenterology, stroke, and oncology. As a newly qualified Dietitian you will undertake the Trust preceptorship programme if appropriate. We have close working links with the Community Dietetic team and support the training of students from the University of Hertfordshire.
Main duties of the job
1. The post holder will have a clinical role in the Nutrition and Dietetic Service.
2. To work as a dietetic practitioner within uni-professional and multi-professional team environments with regular supervision.
3. The post-holder will be based at Peterborough City Hospital and will be required at times to work across sites as part of the Band 5 specialist rotation opportunities.
4. To deliver a high standard of evidence based dietetic care to adult inpatients and to patients seen in outpatient clinic settings.
5. To support Highly specialist dietitians in the development and implementation of Nutrition and Dietetic Service standards, guidelines and evidence-based practice.
6. To undertake the Band 5 preceptorship programme if newly qualified.
7. To ensure the service is patient centred and develops in line with national and local policies in order to meet the needs of the local population.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or Degree followed by a Masters in Dietetics.
* Strong evidence of CPD (portfolio).
Experience
* Experience of managing patients requiring enteral oral and tube fed nutritional support.
* Acute Hospital Experience.
* Experience of delivering training and education.
Knowledge
* Sound level of theoretical Dietetic knowledge.
* Basic knowledge of the role of the Dietitian in multidisciplinary teams.
* Sound knowledge of enteral feeding methods & interventions.
Key Skills
* Able to work as a team member and independently.
* Good level of clinical reasoning and selection of appropriate nutritional intervention.
* Ability to present information in logical, concise manner.
* Good IT skills & ability to use packages such as Word, Outlook, Power point & Excel.
* Ability to manage own time and pressure including clinical caseload.
* Manages strong emotions & has a range of mechanisms for dealing with stress & can recognise when to use them.
* Able to deliver presentations to groups of staff / patients.
* Ability to demonstrate personal and clinical effectiveness to achieve optimum patient care.
