An exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 5 Pre Surgical Preparation Practitioners at the Kent & Canterbury Hospital in Canterbury.
In this role you will be part of an innovative and exciting team toprovide exemplary,high standard of Pre-Operative Care. The successful candidate will be working within the Pre-Assessment Clinic and the Surgical Admissions Lounge. The applicant should be highly motivated and have an innovative and dynamic approach in the development of Preoperative care. Main duties of the job
The Role of the Pre-Surgical Practitioner is to provide a safe environment for patient care and to ensure best practice within the pre-surgical role. The role is diverse and covers all areas of pre-operative care. The role also requires that best practice with infection and prevention control is maintained. The Post holder needs to have excellent communication skills and ensure that patients are treated with dignity and respect.
The post holder will be responsible for the motivation of the team to maintain a high-quality standard of patient care. As a key member of the team the post holder needs to promote excellence of clinical care by providing strong leadership and support. The Post Holder will need to demonstrate efficient organisation skills, making maximum and economical use of resources and personnel.
The Post also includes acting as an advocate, available for advice, support and as a link for patients and their families in the pre-operative period of the patients planned care.
To carry out pre-assessments for patients undergoing planned surgery for multiple specialities including orthopaedics, general surgery, women's health and head and neck surgery.
To admit patients on day of surgery to the admissions ward.
