Are you an experienced HCPC registered Psychologist looking for a new challenging opportunity?
Do you have experience in leadership and supervision within the field?
Following a retirement in the team, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Consultant Clinical, Counselling or Clinical Health Psychologist to join the Oxfordshire Talking Therapies Service. We are looking for someone to work closely with the clinical lead on the continued development of the Long Term Physical Health pathways as well as to support the core service.
You will provide clinical supervision to psychological therapies colleagues and other professionals, be active in supporting the team to implement psychologically informed working practices. You will play a key role in clinical leadership development, training, and service evaluation. You will enhance our strong links with Oxfordshire GP's, community and hospital physical health services.
You will excel at working autonomously, managing your own caseload, and exercising responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within a multidisciplinary team. You will be familiar with utilising research skills for audit, policy and service development, including quality improvement and research.
Main duties of the job
The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
* To provide clinical leadership for Oxfordshire Talking Therapies service as designated by the Psychological Therapies Clinical & Professional Lead for Adult and Older Adult.
* Ensure the systematic provision of high-quality evidence-based specialist psychological therapies to adults 18+ across Oxfordshire with Long term health conditions.
* To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the services provided for adults with specialist mental health needs.
* To provide expert consultation, teaching and supervision to other professionals as agreed with the Professional & Clinical Lead for Adult and Older Adult Psychological Therapies & Head of Oxfordshire Talking Therapies.

Person specification
Knowledge
* Doctoral level knowledge of Clinical/Counselling psychology including highly developed knowledge of lifespan of developmental psychology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, * and two or more distinct psychological therapies.
* A high-level ability to communicate effectively at both a written and oral level complex, highly technical and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and a wide range of lay and professional persons within and outside the NHS.
* Highly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised therapies for adults with common mental health problems and particularly in the context of a long term physical health problem/s
* Knowledge and Experience of developing LTC pathways with MDT colleagues working in physical health care settings.
Qualifications
* Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology (or equivalent training in Counselling Psychology with evidence of specific experience of an adult client group and neuropsychology assessment skills).
* Registration as a practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Health Psychology qualification.
* BABCP accreditation/eligibility.
Skills
* Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
* Advanced skills in professional supervision.
* Highly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies including CBT.
Experience
* Extensive experience as a Principal Adult clinical/counselling Psychologist Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, in-patient and residential care settings including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse, and the threat of physical abuse.
* Experience of teaching, training and supervision of professional and clinical staff.
* Experience of professional management of qualified and pre-qualified clinical/counselling psychologists.
* Experience of representing the profession in local policy fora.
Other qualities
* Enthusiasm for a broad range of psychological phenomena, an interest in models of service delivery, and an ability to articulate the value added by clinical/counselling psychological therapy within the context of multi-disciplinary mental health services.
* Ability to demonstrate leadership and management skills.
* Record of having published in either peer reviewed or academic professional journals and books.
