About the role Key details: Hours: Monday to Friday, hours will vary between 8.45am and 4.30pm, 29¾ to 33¾ hrs per week Wage: £6.40 per hour Location: Crouch Hall Lane, Redbourn, St Albans, AL3 7ET Apprenticeship Standard: Level 3 Teaching Assistant Duration: 18 months Overview of the role: We are looking for a Teaching Assistant with passion for making a difference and who loves ‘difference’ to join our team. The applicant will be responsible for supporting our teachers and inspiring children with complex learning disabilities, all of whom have cognitive disabilities. Many of our children have Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and Moderate Learning Disabilities (MLD). The successful applicant will work with classes of mixed ages and will likely work with children across the school’s full age range. Key Responsibilities: 1. Plan and Deliver Learning Activities: Plan, prepare, and deliver learning activities for individuals and groups under the supervision of a qualified teacher, adapting programs to individual needs Plan and evaluate specialist learning activities, writing reports and providing personalized support as required. 2. Monitor and Report on Progress: Assess, record, and report on pupil development, progress, and attainment Monitor and record pupil responses and learning achievements, reporting unresolved issues to the teacher. 3. Support Pupil Development: Provide ongoing guidance in social development and emotional well-being. Support pupils in developing independence, resilience, and confidence. Assist with eating, dressing, and hygiene for pupils with SEN needs. 4. Engage with Parents and Carers: Support parents/carers in pupils' learning, providing feedback on progress. Establish and maintain relationships with families, carers, and other professionals. 5. Ensure a Safe Learning Environment: Maintain a clean, safe, and tidy learning environment. Supervise pupils during the school day, including before and after school, during lunch, and on trips. 6. Administrative Support: Prepare, maintain, and monitor stocks of materials and resources. Support the use of ICT in the curriculum 7. Health and Safety: Provide basic first aid and ensure timely referral to health services in emergencies. Comply with child protection, confidentiality, and data protection policies. 8. Professional Development and Teamwork: Attend relevant meetings and participate in training and performance development activities. Maintain good relationships with colleagues and support the role of other professionals. Promote commitment to equal opportunities and eliminate discriminatory practices.
