About the role
The Operations and Maintenance team are responsible for ensuring safe and efficient operational running of North Sea Link (NSL). As our Lead Site Engineer, based at our Blyth converter station, you'll have a critical role ensuring that NSL assets (Converter Station, Cables Systems, Substation & associated Operational Technology) maintain the highest level of operational performance.
You’ll lead on various deliverables and projects within NSL’s high voltage electricity Converter Station, supervising team members ensuring safe systems of work are implemented and followed, sharing your knowledge and expertise to ensure completion of maintenance, refurbishment or replacement works on a variety of plant and equipment at NSL.
Key accountabilities
1. Undertake a range of duties including monitoring, maintenance, fault investigation & repair, witnessing & testing & commission, record updating.
2. Lead on technical or system related TapRoot Incident investigations.
3. Supervise NSL Technicians, Engineers, Apprentices and Third-Party Contractors to ensure optimum efficiency, cost effectiveness, with high standards of environmental & safety performance.
4. Adhere to the site safety rules, establish safe systems of work (risk assessment), raise and issue safety documents to both NGV and Contractor Competent Persons (CP) ensuring safety from the system.
5. Undertake standby and emergency call out duties, enacting the role of a Senior Authorised Person (SAP).
About you

1. A Senior Authorised Person (SAP) authorisation and Project Leader experience.
2. Knowledge and experience of work and/or failures on HV & LV systems, encompassing both electrical and mechanical systems.
3. Experience working within high voltage environment or similar environment.
4. Experience managing and overseeing Contractor and in-house team performance including safety, health, environment & quality when carrying out work.
5. Experience of working and making critical business and operational decisions with conflicting priorities and under pressure.
6. Safety & environmental knowledge and understanding in respect of day-to-day duties, together with proven ability to respond to emergency situations.
7. Health and Safety Qualification: IOSH or NEBOSH (or equivalent).
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £58,929 - £74,916 – dependent on capability.
Market supplement of £3,000 per annum.
