Are you an innovative and dynamic cardiac scientist looking for a new challenge? We are looking for someone with a passion for cardiac science who can lead the invasive and CRM services, including the development of non-medical led CRT optimisation and CEID pre-assessment clinics.
Working alongside eight Cardiologists, the department provides a wide range of complex cardiac and respiratory investigations. In the cath lab, this includes routine use of IVUS, OCT, FFR, rotablation, and IVL. Within devices, it includes His bundle pacing, high voltage device implantation, and non-medical ILR implantation. We are partway through the implementation of a large dedicated Cardiology IT system which will pull together all the clinical and administrative systems across the department. We are also planning new scientist-led services such as CRT optimisation and pre-assessment clinics, and we would be keen for the new member of staff to lead those projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to engage in service development and re-design, site management, budgetary management, and staff management as delegated by the head of service, all within a supportive and nurturing environment.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will coordinate the invasive and CRM team, as well as being clinically active with patient clinics. You will be expected to have:

Job Responsibilities
You will need to be an AHCS registered practitioner or HCPC registered Clinical Scientist, with a relevant master's level qualification or doctorate. You should have relevant professional qualifications and evidence of postgraduate development is essential. This post is suited to a Registered Clinical Scientist; however, consideration will be given to those currently partway through the AHCS STP equivalence process and who are likely to achieve registration within the next 12 months. You should hold an MSc Cardiology or equivalent level of qualification. We will consider those with a proven plan to achieve a Level 7 qualification within the first 18 months of employment. We hope to support staff through the HSST program in the future.

We are looking for someone who is keen to develop their colleagues as well as themselves, and so the ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leadership, mentoring, teaching, and developing junior staff and students. You should have experience of the STP programmes. We are currently supporting staff to undertake MSc level clinical qualifications as well as providing mentorship and support to those applying for registration as a Clinical Scientist. We have a dedicated training budget which allows staff to attend national and international educational events.

Experience
* Proven experience of technical service in all the areas listed below:
o Non-Invasive Cardiology
o Adult Echocardiography
o Invasive Cardiology
* Is a qualified independent expert practitioner in one of the above and has significant experience at a highly specialist grade
* Experience of clinical decision making as an independent practitioner
* In-depth experience of area of specialty with proven CPD
* Experience of service and team management
* Experience of in-house training and clinical assessing
* Experience of leading a specialist service
Skills
* Excellent communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge
* Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
* Able to work independently in area of expertise, interprets complex information, as a highly specialist practitioner
Qualifications
* HCPC Registered Clinical Scientist
* MSc Cardiology or equivalent level of qualification
* At least one recognised postgraduate or Masters level qualification, by examination, from an accredited source (i.e., BHRS accreditation, ARTP or equivalent respiratory qualification, BSE Adult accreditation by examination)
* Recognised management/leadership qualification
