Job Summary
The Co-Gen Boiler Operator will be responsible for operations, monitoring, and maintenance of all heating and electrical operations for the Co-Gen facility to ensure a safe and healthy work and residential environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors to the University. This position requires monitoring and maintenance of the Co-Gen facility which provides steam through an underground centralized distribution system to the campus. The Co-Gen facility also provides backup/emergency electrical power to the main campus grid. This position requires extensive knowledge and understanding of all phases of electrical distribution, high-pressure steam systems, and maintenance skills. This position will also perform general maintenance services and related repairs to university buildings, structures, machinery, and equipment after hours as needed. Requires a highly motivated individual capable of managing multiple priorities, with the ability to organize and perform under pressure.
Minimum Qualifications
Acceptable minimum level of education: HS or equivalent
Acceptable minimum years of experience: 3-5 years
Other Minimum Qualifications
* Vocational school graduation or equivalent.
* Knowledge of all tools, materials, methods, and hazards of trade.
* Skill in the use of tools of the trade.
* Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy lifting.
* Ability to read blueprints.
* Valid driver’s license.
* Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work well with others.
* Ability and knowledge to perform required chemical tests.
* Must be available to work occasional scheduled or unscheduled overtime, as required.
* Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts that include holidays, nights, and weekends.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of operation of boilers (700HP), high-pressure steam systems.
* Knowledge of generators (1.3 MW) and all phases of electrical distributions.
* Fuel and Electricity procurement experience.
* Experience in a college/university setting.

Duties / Responsibilities
* Responsible for operations, monitoring, and maintenance of the Co-Gen facility.
* Responsible for operations, monitoring, and maintenance of the 2 pellet boilers at the All Well building.
* Responsible for operations, monitoring, and maintenance of the 2 oil-fired boilers at the PE Center.
* Respond to after-hours calls from students and staff and make minor repairs to university buildings, structures, machinery, and equipment as needed.
* Make adjustments to building access schedules using Johnson Controls P2000 software after hours as needed.
