We are currently looking for a Band 3 Supervisor for the St Richards Hospital Site. You will need to be friendly, approachable and a hard-working team player with a calm and mature approach to work and ability to motivate and lead the team.

Main duties of the job
To ensure that the Domestic services team carry out their Domestic duties following departmental and Trust policies. Duties to include supervision of teams and to manage annual leave and sickness.
To communicate with all users of the services on a regular basis to ensure the service specifications are being delivered to agreed standards.

Job responsibilities
Communications and Relationship skills
1. Maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business in accordance with Trust Policy.
2. Provide effective communication and to support and facilitate all types of meetings which have relevance to the operation of the department
3. To aid Hospital staff, visitors and patients when faced with difficult situations caused by third parties, following Trust policies and procedures.
4. To be able to communicate sensitive issues when dealing with the deceased family using tact and respect.
5. Guide and direct visitors and deal with telephone calls in a helpful and friendly manner, taking written notes of any relevant information
6. To investigate and resolve complaints speedily and effectively, keeping a positive image of the department even when feedback is less than positive.
7. Take a leading role in any departmental Information Technology initiatives.
8. Provide advice and support to the Domestic team.
Qualifications and Experience
9. As per Job Specification
Analytical and Judgemental skills
10. To maintain effective and efficient records of all Domestic services, observing varying trends and evidencing them to the Senior Domestic Supervisor.
11. Communicate daily with all users regarding any variation in services that may be required. Using judgement to rearrange priorities when necessary and in consultation with the Assistant Domestics Manager; implementing contingency plans as appropriate
12. Understand and adhere to procedures for dealing with complaints and ensure they are dealt with promptly and sympathetically. Be capable of writing a report of an incident if required to do so.
Planning and Organisational skills
13. Attend daily briefing meeting with the Senior Domestic Supervisor, and liaise with other Supervisors. To ensure operational continuity and appraise colleagues of any human resource, disciplinary or logistical problems
14. Respond to the bleep and subsequent messages, deploying staff appropriately.
15. Planning / scheduling of rosters and appropriate annual leave within the team to ensure the service is well covered at all times.

16. Level NVQ 3 in a management discipline or equivalent
17. Experience of supervising a multi-disciplined work force
18. Develop and maintain good communication with people, and at all levels about difficult matters and / or in difficult situations
19. Ability to assess how to safely transport hospital equipment and utilise appropriate manual handling techniques
20. Ability to prioritise work and the ability to understand rotas

21. One years experience in the role of a Domestic Assistant or equivalent front line service
