Role Summary
Responsible for managing small to medium sized projects, or working for a Programme Manager on managing elements of a large programme that deliver highly technological products with demanding timescales. Through your project management competence and attention to detail the selected candidate will ensure success delivery. The projects and programmes require hardware and software development and test, with deployment and system go live events requiring regular customer interactions in meetings, workshops and reviews. The selected candidate will be required to deliver to cost and schedule. They will ensure adherence to commercial scope and that costs are tracked against budget, with internal and external milestones tracked against the committed schedule.
Responsibilities
● Ensure project schedule and budget are tracked and remain on target. Identify any deviations and take corrective action
● Provide regular financial and status reporting
● Prepare and maintain the profit and loss statement including cash flow
● Manage a project team, maybe within a programme
● Oversee the delivery of the project in conjunction with the project Technical Lead
● Provide the necessary support for tenders, commercial events, customer presentations
● Provide main point of contact for project matters
● Manage customer expectations and ensure that they are met or exceeded
● Provide leadership in the resolution of issues and challenges
● Ensure the project team understand project goals
● Prepare and maintain the project schedule
Experience
The Project Manager should have experience of the whole project lifecycle from bidding to warranty support and is likely to have experience of the delivery of complex systems. Strong candidates will have previously worked managed projects which include substantial hardware and software development. They will have a proven track record of delivery to external customers. Their customer-facing skills and project management competences are of the highest importance to the role.
Core skills
● Understanding of the project and engineering lifecycle and software and/or systems engineering experience
● Academic qualification probably to degree level accompanied by experience of successful project delivery
● Ability to manage complex projects
● Strong interpersonal skills with excellent oral communication and time management and be used to working to deadlines
● Strong commercial skills
● Proficient in the use of Microsoft and Google business software environments (spreadsheets, email, word processing)
● Flexible working hours to accommodate the needs of projects
