Location: To cover Kitchens across the catering service provision of the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership we have schools in Yeovil, Glastonbury, Bath, Midsomer Norton And Radstock

Hours: 7.00am-3.00pm - 37.5 hours per week 5 days a week - Term Time plus 5 inset days
Salary: 4- 5 SCP 7 - 17 depending on experience (FTE £24,584 - £30,060) actual salary £21,407 - £26,175.

Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership is looking for a skilled and motivated Operational Support Chef to join our catering team. This dynamic role offers variety, growth, and the opportunity to work in a supportive educational environment.
What You’ll Do:
Cook with creativity – Prepare and serve nutritionally balanced, imaginative dishes that delight our school communities.
Support excellence – Contribute to achieving the 'Food for Life Partnership Scheme' standards while managing health and safety in compliance with COSHH and HACCP.
Collaborate and develop – Work with and mentor catering staff to enhance service efficiency.
Be adaptable – Cover kitchens across our schools and help with menu planning, dietary needs, stock control, and budgeting.
Operational expertise – Oversee food orders, manage food service areas, and ensure accurate readings for cashless catering systems.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
At least 2 years’ experience as a Head Chef or similar role.
Relevant catering qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds 706/1 & 2, NVQ Level 2/3).
Strong knowledge of nutrition, dietary requirements, and health & safety in catering.
Budget and cost management skills.
Excellent team management, communication, and organisational abilities.
Desirable:
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
