Job Overview
We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced full-time Box Office Manager to join the Komedia Team.
This is primarily an office-based role, with the possibility of some evenings and some flexible working.
Working closely with the Sales & Marketing Manager, Programming Manager, Finance team and our external events partners, the role involves putting events on sale, managing ticket allocations, discounts and offers and providing post-event reporting. The Box Office Manager is also responsible for managing and training a small team of part-time Box Office and Stewarding staff, and providing customer service over the phone and via email.
The successful candidate will have at least two years’ experience in a comparable role and will be confident at using ticketing software such as Ticketsolve or Spektrix. They will be an excellent communicator with an eye for detail and a passion for live entertainment.
Main Responsibilities:
On Sales:
* Take responsibility for putting all Komedia Bath shows on sale with our online ticket sales software Ticketsolve accurately and promptly, and confirming with the Marketing Manager, Programming Director and rest of Komedia Bath team when this has been done.
* Work with the Marketing Assistant to oversee the completion of all marketing activity included in the on sale process including scheduling of social media and listing on other local listings sites.
* Manage discounts and ensure that all Box Office staff are aware of these.
* Answer the box office phone and take bookings, sell vouchers or answer queries.
* Add and change pricing/ticket allocations as and when required.
* Provide sales updates to internal team as well as external promoters on a regular basis.
* Communicate any changes or event cancellations with customers as well as other pre- and post-show communications, such as feedback emails.
* Manage the Komedia inbox and reply to customer queries in a timely fashion.
Box Office Management:
Ensuring that all Box Office staff are comprehensively trained to confidently provide Box Office services to customers over the phone, from the Electric Bar/Box Office or while working on the Box Office during events.
* Manage a small team of part-time Box Office and stewarding staff.
* Train Box Office Staff to use Ticketsolve, sell vouchers, apply discounts, amend allocations and provide accurate and detailed ticketing and events information to customers, as well as upselling services such as signing up to our mailing list.
* Train Box Office Staff to cash-up box office takings at the end of a sales session or event.
* Work occasional Box Office shifts on show days.
Box Office Development:
* Stay up-to-date with Ticketsolve updates, attend their workshops and make suggestions to the Senior Management team of any new developments or products that the venue may benefit from.
* Use Ticketsolve reporting to gather and provide demographic data for use in Arts Council funding applications.
* Manage relationships with and bookings from Stag and Hen agencies.
* Help develop and manage memberships within Ticketsolve.
* Work with the Sales & Marketing Manager to develop the venue’s gifting strategy to help drive sales of gift vouchers and other experience packages.
* Work with the Sales & Marketing Manager to drive email newsletter sign-ups and encourage repeat bookings.
Shows, Events & Business Aims:
* Develop brand image and reputation to reflect Komedia’s Community Ownership Status.
* Maintain a constant focus on core internal brands such as Krater, The Big Disco & Ministry of Burlesque.
* Be aware of breakeven figures and sales targets and prioritise efforts accordingly.
Any other reasonable requests as made by the senior management team.
Necessary Skills:
* At least 2 years’ experience working within arts/entertainment sales at management level.
* At least two years’ experience using Box Office sales software such as Ticketsolve or Spektrix.
* Must be a confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
* Attention to detail.
* Keen passion for live entertainment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £25,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
