Title Fire Safety Engineer Salary range: £45,000 to £63,500 per annum Location: UK wide (The fire team are currently located in our Burton-on-Trent office but being based at any of our offices would be considered with time split between the office, client sites and working from home) Closing date for this role is 31st October but we would encourage early applications. In particular, the Energy Assurance unit provides significant support to the civil nuclear sector, deploying engineering and safety case skills across decommissioning, fusion, generation and new build. Frazer-Nash Consultancy is looking to bolster this team with talented individuals to continue to develop our service delivery and increase our support to the high hazard industries, such as the nuclear market. As such, an opportunity exists to join an established safety team with a substantial fire safety- engineering / safety-case capability, which we seek to expand further. We are searching for self-starting consultants with fire engineering experience in high-risk industries, experience in the nuclear industry would be advantageous. You will join the existing technical leadership team in fire engineering. Whilst this opportunity is focused on nuclear, there will be opportunities to work in other safety critical or highly regulated sectors (e.g. rail, defence, aerospace) and in new markets relating to clean energy systems and renewables where there are fire safety hazards (e.g. hydrogen, and lithium-ion battery energy storage). Requirements Successful applicants will meet the following minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in a science, engineering or maths subject. Fire engineering experience in one or more high-hazard or highly regulated industries (nuclear, petrochemicals, chemicals, defence and/or rail). Knowledge of safety management approaches used in the high hazard or highly regulated industries including the safety case regime. It is to your advantage if you meet any or all the following additional requirements : MSc Fire Safety Engineering (or equivalence by experience). Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers. Chartered (or working towards chartership, ideally through the IFE). Experience of fire modelling, such as CFAST or FDS Experience of undertaking DSEAR assessments Experience of working on large multi-disciplinary projects. Experience of working within a consultancy. A track record of working successfully with clients and developing new business. Knowledge of safety cases and supporting disciplines (ideally nuclear). Knowledge of clean energy systems such as hydrogen, and lithium battery storage.
