Job summary We are looking for an enthusiastic Physiotherapist to work in our Paediatric Therapy Services. You will have the opportunity to work with both preschool and school aged children with a variety of conditions including neurodevelopmental and developmental coordination disorders. The post holder will also work with the acute paediatric physiotherapy team on the wards to cover weekend, on call and twilight services. Training in respiratory and musculoskeletal physiotherapy assessment and treatment will be given. We particularly welcome applicants from therapists who have experience of working with children and who enjoy sharing knowledge, exchanging ideas and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Our service is mainly provided in an outpatient setting at the Child Development Centre as part of an integrated therapy service. Travel across UHD sites is expected. School and nursery visits and occasionally home visits are completed as clinically needed. This post gives an excellent opportunity to gain experience in working as part of a specialised team. The team works closely with the two education and local authority departments. Applicants must be car drivers and have access to car for work related travel. Base Location: Poole Hospital. Interview Date: TBC Main duties of the job To be part of an integrated therapy team providing a highly specialised Physiotherapy (PT) assessment, treatment and advice service to children, 0-19 years and their parents/carers referred to the service, covering Bournemouth, Poole and East Dorset. To work as a member of the MDTs providing in-patient and out-patient physiotherapy services to children with orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, respiratory, medical and neuro-developmental conditions, or others which affect their physical performance. To be responsible for the clinical supervision and development of other members of the Paediatric Therapy Team and to be a clinical educator for undergraduate students. To provide advice and liaise with other professionals (e.g. consultants, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, orthotists) and disciplines (e.g. the community nursing team, Learning Disability Team, Therapists working in Social Care and Health, Education Staff), as well as networking with therapists in other departments and NHS Trusts.
