Sustainability and Climate Change Adviser Salary : c.£40,000 dependent on experience Location: Stoneleigh, Warwickshire with agile working Working Hours : 35 hours per week Contract Type: Permanent Purpose of the role & how you will contribute: Farmers and growers are at the heart of adapting to and mitigating the impacts of climate change, through effective policy development and implementation. Reducing GHG emissions from agricultural production is complex, and alongside food, farmers also provide nature-based solutions and engineered GHG removals while striving to improve resilience. You will contribute by developing and delivering key policy activities related to climate change mitigation and adaptation, as well as broader sustainability areas. Your role involves coordinating and reporting on UK farming’s climate change performance, ensuring members and staff are well-informed on policy and legislative developments. By building strong relationships with government departments, national agencies, and NGOs, you will maximise the NFU’s influence and protect members’ interests through relevant measures, regulations, and programs. What you’ll bring: You have a degree, or equivalent, in Climate Science, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field. Your willingness to deepen your understanding of climate change science, impacts, and policy development, coupled with a passion for agriculture, food and farming, will be invaluable. You have core sustainability and climate knowledge including GHG reporting, climate policy and science, and a proven ability to research, analyse, and synthesise statistical information. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills enable you to present complex information clearly and build collaborative relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders. You are proficient in Microsoft Office, a strategic thinker, and can work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating ownership of projects and engaging team members effectively.
