Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to undertake training to become a Pharmacy Technician. We are offering a fixed term two year Apprenticeship involving "on-the-job" and a combination of face-to-face and virtual learning with the University of East Anglia, leading to a recognised qualification suitable for registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
The role of the Pharmacy Technician is rapidly developing and extending into all pharmacy services - they have a vital role in ensuring the Pharmacy departments provide an efficient, timely and friendly service to wards and patients.
These posts will be based at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital (although travel to regional study days and the Bedford Hospital site will be necessary).
Minimum Requirements: Candidates must have 4 x GCSEs at Grade C / Level 4 or above (or equivalent) in Mathematics, English, a Science and one other subject.
Please note: some weekend and late shifts will be required.
Main Duties of the Job
To participate in "on-the-job" training whilst gaining experience in a variety of pharmacy services whilst undertaking an approved Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) course resulting in registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), if successful.
PTPTs are supervised to help in the supply of medicines and devices and learn how to assist Pharmacists and registered Pharmacy Technicians with advisory and clinical services.
With appropriate training, PTPTs are expected to work individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and be able to work with minimum supervision with a high degree of autonomy, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of their work.
To participate in "on-the-job" training whilst gaining experience in a variety of pharmacy services whilst undertaking the UEA Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice (NVQ Level 4).
