The apprenticeship will be delivered as a 3 year programme in Therapeutic Radiography with on the job training at Southend Hospital Radiotherapy department and specific academic support from a higher education institute. On completion of the training period the employee will be expected to qualify as a Therapeutic Radiographer and gain HCPC registration in order to practice.

Main duties of the job
We are a friendly and welcoming team, working in a very busy department treating cancer patients to satisfy local and national targets.
As part of the multi-disciplinary team, the post holders will fulfil a key role in providing Radiotherapy care and support to patients.
As a trainee Therapeutic Radiographer, you will gain experience and knowledge in all areas of Radiotherapy delivery including pre-treatment and planning, patient care, treatment and quality assurance processes. You will be working under the supervision of qualified therapeutic radiographers.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English at level 2 or above (grade 4, or previously C)
* Evidence of successful formal study at Level 3
* If you do not have a minimum of six months experience working in a health and social care capacity, you should hold one of the following: 96 UCAS points from three A levels or equivalent qualifications such as BTEC Nationals, Cambridge Technicals, OCR Nationals and T Levels. Access to HE Diploma from a QAA recognised Access to HE courses Level 3 Apprenticeship Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQ's) New or existing Level 4 or 5 qualifications such as HNDs, Foundation Degrees, Certificate HE or Diploma HE Previous degree Other qualifications may be considered in discussion with the university.
Experience
* A minimum of six months experience in a health and social care capacity, including any placements or work-based learning undertaken as part of a Level 3 qualification.
* Basic understanding of Radiotherapy
* Polite, empathetic and friendly
* Ability to follow instruction

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 a year. The role has a 3 year training period following Annex 21.
