The purpose of this role is to lead the line management of our cohort of engineers and other professions based in Enterprise Services End User Compute and Collaboration and provide advice and guidance to our ES Senior Management Team (SMT) on both the management of individuals and the pipeline of resources in our workforce plan.
Using your knowledge of Home Office policies and processes for human resources, workforce planning, finance and commercial and our organisational strategy, you will ensure that the management of individuals meets the legal and Home Office requirements. You will also assess and anticipate the evolving and future collaboration team workforce requirements.
As the Team Line Management Lead, you will be working across a range of grades and stakeholders acting as the subject matter expert and accountable for our people matters, including managing performance, attendance, discipline and conduct issues, terminations, wellbeing/pastoral guidance, reasonable adjustments, coordination of organisational inductions and learning and development, including managing and tailoring corporate events for the team. You will also act as the client for our Human Resources (HR) Casework colleagues to address complex issues to manage individual cases to conclusion.
Using your understanding of finance and workforce planning, you will also operate at a strategic level as a trusted advisor articulating and ensuring our Collaboration team resources needs are met by providing objective recommendations and identifying resourcing risks based on your understanding and analysis of workforce planning in a digital context.
A key part of this role is to be able to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders including our Business Management Team (BMT), HR casework teams, ES SMT, Digital and Data Profession Team, Head of Role and Community Lead.
Human Resources Generalists within DDaT align to the HR Profession, for HR professionals across Government.
Your main day to day responsibilities will be:
* Providing leadership, direction and pastoral guidance to the Collaboration team. Motivating the team to ensure focussed delivery against strategic priorities while promoting well-being and a fair and inclusive culture.
* Providing effective team line management in accordance with Home Office policies and guidance. Addressing areas for improved compliance to ensure best value for money for both civil service and contracted resources.
* Leading on conduct and disciplinary issues, liaising with HR casework. Commissioning/conducting investigations and providing expert advice to the ES SMT.
* Leading on Collaboration team requirements for the ES workforce plan. Coordinating workforce planning with finance and BMT colleagues for future resources. Working with the BMT to coordinate tailored onboarding activities.
* Leading on the delivery of tailored corporate and organisational activities and events, such as awaydays and training events. Working with the BMT, advising on appropriate providers and approvals for purchase orders.
* Working with the Head of Role/Community Lead to support continuous professional development within spend controls and repayment arrangements. Ensuring compliance with Home Office mandatory learning requirements.
You will also be expected to carry out the following day to day activities:
* Building strong links and working collaboratively across ES and DDaT to support achievement of the teams’ deliverables.
* Undertaking appropriate development/training to keep abreast of updates in human resources policies and organisational strategies.
Working Pattern
Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis. However, compressed hours are available .
Travel
Occasional travel may be required to attend away days.
