SHAL Housing is looking for someone who can become the Villages Together Community Hub Project Worker, supporting the development of a new ‘Community Hub’ building in the South Ward of Woolavington, Somerset, as well as a satellite ‘Community Spoke’ space in the neighbouring village of Puriton.
The post holder will help steer the development of a one-year Hub pilot project; working in the Polden area of Sedgemoor – supporting Villages Together Big Local and the wider local community – to realise our vision of an integrated ‘social and community support’ centre; working with a range of service providers, as well as coordinating a food pantry, community events, and local groups.
This is a key role for an experienced community leader, who enjoys project and budget management, but also has a deep understanding of community work. A relevant professional qualification in Youth or Community Work is valued, but we also value extensive relevant experience and being able to demonstrate an embodiment of our ethos and values.
This is a unique opportunity for a self-reliant and results-focused individual, who is looking to make a difference in this complex and high-profile field of work. In return we offer:
• Flexible working practices, which encourage innovation and fresh ideas.
• A supportive Big Local network and friendly team in a motivating working environment.
• 25 days holiday per year (plus Bank Holidays).
