Job Description
As Senior Press Officer, your responsibilities will focus on leading the PRI’s day-to-day press activity and providing vital strategic communications counsel while supporting the Head of Press and Corporate Communications. This will centre on the management of the organisation’s reputation and profile in key media outlets, as well as serving as communications lead for high-profile global initiatives which support the PRI’s work. You will also play a key role in helping deliver impactful media coverage around landmark calendar events, including the PRI’s own PRI in Person conference.
Core Responsibilities
* Provide regular reporting to the Head of Press and Corporate Communications, and Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer as required.
* Lead on day-to-day press engagement, working closely with the PRI’s Press Officer to triage and manage inbound media enquiries and deliver proactive press results in core target media outlets.
* Manage the PRI’s reputation among key stakeholders, including through periods of reputational crisis as required.
* Represent the organisation’s comms and press needs in multi-stakeholder engagements, specifically through the PRI’s engagement with various collaborative initiatives.
* Support the Head of Press and Corporate Communications in providing comms and reputational guidance across the organisation, including to the C-suite.
* Handle media-facing launches of reports and content, working across subject matter experts and marketing colleagues to collectively deliver multi-discipline with real impact.
* Develop messaging and lines to take on key issues.
* Draft written communications materials for a variety of audiences and stakeholders.
Person Specification
* Excellent written communication and verbal presentation skills.
* A well-established media operator, with a strong network of media contacts in financial services / responsible investment industry.
* A collaborative and consultative approach to working with others & committed to fostering an inclusive environment.
* The ability to manage a large network of high-value stakeholders, both internal and external, and to balance the needs of this stakeholder landscape with the requirements of the organisation.
* An excellent understanding of reputation and crisis comms management.
* An independent worker, able to lead a project from inception and work with relevant project owners to deliver impactful and meaningful press outputs.
* A working understanding of or interest in the investment landscape and climate issues is desirable.
* Demonstrates a commitment to developing others and a growth mindset, actively pursuing continuous professional and personal development.
* Excellent networking, relationship management and interpersonal skills and experience of building strong and productive relationships.
* Language skills, other than English, are desirable.
