Position Overview
IPG Optical Technicians assemble, align and test lasers and laser delivery systems according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of optics and mechanics.
Responsibilities:
1. Product/component level assembly
2. Optical alignment
3. Testing of optical and laser components
4. Wide range of assembly processes of precision opto-mechanical components including: soldering, adhesive bonding, UV Curing and mechanical assembly
5. Cleaning and inspecting optics
6. Cleaning and inspecting mechanical parts
7. Optical, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
8. Repair
9. General cleaning and upkeep of work area to uphold cleanroom environment
10. Follow company laser safety practices
Requirements:
1. HS Diploma required
2. AS in Opto-Mechanical, Optics or Electronics preferred, or equivalent experience
3. Must have 1 – 5 years of relevant experience
4. Ability to work in cleanroom dress, i.e., gloves, bonnets, frocks, shoe covers, etc. is required
5. Must have good hand-eye coordination and dexterity
6. Knowledge of multimeters, oscilloscopes, optical spectrum analyzers and laser beam profiling equipment preferred
7. Ability to work with small parts under a microscope for extended periods of time
8. Ability to read and follow written instructions and schematics
9. Must be organized, energetic, reliable, timely and detail oriented
10. Strong communication skills
11. Data entry skills
