We are an all-ability mixed academy with excellent resources and accommodations, providing the opportunity to teach all year groups, including post 16. The selected candidate will have the responsibility to impart musical skills that will benefit students in their future music-making endeavours, whether for leisure or as a career. The Music Teacher will be expected to develop, plan, and lead age-appropriate, engaging, and enriching musical activities for their assigned students. Your future music department is located in a specially designed Creative Arts block, which includes three practise rooms and a main teaching room. The practise rooms are equipped with guitars, an electronic piano, and a drum kit, while the main teaching room has an electric piano. We also have a full samba kit, African djembe drums, ukuleles, xylophones, and keyboards available for whole-class instruction. The ideal candidate for the Music Teacher role will: Hold a valid teaching credential, such as QTLS or PGCE with QTS in music. Demonstrate a strong understanding and skill in creating, performing, listening to, and evaluating music. Be confident and competent in teaching KS3 and KS4 students. Recognise the social, cultural, and historical context of their future professional practise. Possess key values such as problem-solving, tenacity, diligence, teamwork, time management, organisation, responsibility, cultural awareness, active listening, self-assurance, social skills, discipline, self-evaluation, and interpersonal skills. Hold a valid Child Enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to apply for one. Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
