Job summary Applications are invited for a fixed term 12 month post to work at registrar level in Colorectal Surgery. University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust serves the largest populations in the UK and is comprised of four hospitals namely the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital and Solihull Hospital. This post represents a new and exciting opportunity for General Surgeons in Training, aimed at surgical trainees at above ST3 level in General Surgery based at Heartlands Hospital, as part of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust. The post on offer is for 1 year, with a view to extending. Initial assessment of progress will be made at 6 months with extension beyond this mutually agreed. The appointed candidate will be expected to provide support for an emergency general surgery as well as elective colorectal services. The successful applicant will be appointed to the Colorectal and General Surgery service at Heartlands Hospital. The post will be particularly suited to ST3 or above applicants who are wishing to develop their clinical portfolio. Applicants will be expected to participate in departmental audit and research appropriate to their educational requirements. Main duties of the job Clinical duties will include being part of the 1 in 16 general surgical registrar on-call rota. The clinical work will be based at Heartlands and Solihull clinical sites.
