The role of the Certified Medical Assistant is pivotal within our practice. This position is integral in creating a positive first impression for our patients and ensuring they receive comprehensive care. The Certified Medical Assistant prepares patients for their evaluations by the physician and assists clinical providers during patient examinations. Key responsibilities include obtaining and documenting vital signs, as well as collecting and updating the patient's medical and social history in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

**Duties and Responsibilities:** -
Provide direct patient care in collaboration with professional nursing staff, which includes preparing charts, measuring temperature and pulse, conducting screenings, and performing blood pressure and respiration assessments, along with additional assigned tasks.
- Support physicians by facilitating practice workflow, organizing examination rooms, managing and ordering supplies, and addressing patient requests as needed, including conducting blood draws and point-of-care (POC) testing as directed by the provider.
- Adhere closely to instructions and report observations and symptoms that may indicate the patient's reaction to treatments or complaints.
- Assume responsibility for practice workflow to ensure timely appointments and reduce patient wait times to consult with providers.
- Aid in the accurate scheduling of initial evaluations, follow-up appointments, and cancellations.
- Conduct appointment reminder calls in a professional and courteous manner, employing appropriate language and tone.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills—both oral and written—that foster positive relationships with patients and staff in the delivery of care.
- Prioritize responsibilities and execute them accurately and promptly.
- Maintain confidentiality while demonstrating responsible judgment by continuously updating knowledge, addressing issues through appropriate channels, and adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Collect and document patient history, chief complaints, and medication lists in the electronic medical record.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements, as well as HIPAA, OSHA, and company policies.
- Assist with various office duties, including answering telephones, faxing, and filing.
- Maintain inventory and readiness of supplies by conducting stock assessments, placing orders, confirming receipt, sorting, and storing materials.
- Restock examination and procedure rooms as necessary.
- Uphold a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to established standards and procedures, along with required legal regulations.
- Assist with administrative functions, including phone answering, filing, greeting patients, and other tasks, while maintaining infection control and confidentiality policies.
- Execute additional responsibilities as delegated by providers, coordinators, and management, consistent with office policies and procedures. - Enhance the practice's reputation by taking ownership of new and diverse requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
**Qualifications, Education, Training, and Experience:**
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience in a medical office is preferred; however, a minimum of six months of experience is required. - Familiarity with EKG, phlebotomy, and patient care is essential.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant is a prerequisite, and CPR certification is mandatory.
- Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems is required, with preference for Athena.
- Knowledge of pre-authorizations and referrals is advantageous.
**Certification Requirements:**
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is necessary.
