Join us Role Description Our Trading Assistant teams (TA’s) sit in Front Office and primarily supports the EMEA Credit and CEEMEA Credit desks across asset classes that include securities (DM, EM, HY, Sovereign and Corporate), derivatives (CDS, CDSI) and structured products (TRS, Funding trades, Repackagings). Whilst the role is varied (see “Primary Responsibilities” below), TA’s are primarily responsible for T0 trade capture and resolving trade discrepancies and related processes. The team also liaises between trading, sales, trade control, counterparties, operations, finance and compliance. TA’s are also involved in new initiatives, tech enhancements, process improvements to increase efficiency, NPRs/NSTs and optimisation of controls over and above BAU. Specifically, this role opportunity is particularly to focus on support of the EMEA Credit Solutions team with a focus on supporting the DM and EM structured business within Global Credit and to work closely with those traders on structured and more complex transactions (repackagings, risk premia, TRS and financing structures). However, this is a broad role and also envisages the ability to support and cover the other product areas as well (including cash) as required. The team Be part of a Team of three based between London and Chester, leveraging their individual SME knowledge to grow whilst working closely together and with the traders. The culture is to provide “can-do” pro-active support to the EMEA/CEEMEA Credit desks and traders to assist their functioning in an efficient manner. You will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the financial markets and contribute to the success of the trading desks you support. The role will entail direct co-operation with the trading desk as well as key stakeholders inside and outside of the franchise. Development opportunities include exposure to a diverse range of other internal functions, senior sales as well as trading, desk management and Global Credit COO. The firm offers sponsorship for CFA studies for career enhancement. Prior team members have moved internally within credit to join credit trading, sales, COO and BCO, by way of example. Responsibilities: Provide TA support to the front office EMEA Credit and CEEMEA Credit desk traders. Responsible for T0 trade capture, book trades, assist with trade amends where necessary. Resolve discrepancies, at all times adhering to the necessary regulatory framework and legal entity strategy. Assist with certain securities life-cycle events (such as corporate actions) and monitoring of FX exposure. Monitor and process time sensitive requests relating to trade bookings, settlement issues and/or downstream feeds. Resolve Risk and P&L issues - work closely with Trading, Risk and P&L to resolve issues in a timely manner. Track and verify trades and check accuracy of processed trades. Involvement in various initiatives across the business working closely with trading, COO, tech, operations and other applicable support teams. Perform a liaison function between traders and other support teams including query resolution. Handle support request from clients and traders. Build and maintain relationships across senior business leads and support partners. What we are looking for: An understanding of Fixed Income Commodities and Currency products. Knowledge of financial instruments relevant to Credit products and related asset classes. Ideally prior experience in similar role, experience of trade capture and dealing directly with Traders. Ideally knowledge of one or more of Vienna, Vmaster, CTC and Bloomberg TOMS. Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills. Strong sense of urgency with ability to multi-task. Flexibility to work outside of core hours in order to ensure necessary work is completed for a particular transaction. Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience). Skills That Will Help: Prior trading floor, operations or similar experience. Be a “doer” as well as a “thinker” and demonstrate an ability to drive projects / tasks to completion. Self-starter with outstanding problem-solving skills. Excels at ‘getting things done’ with minimal direction. Strong operational processing and risk control skills including the ability to build well-controlled spreadsheets and source appropriate and meaningful data. Be enthusiastic, keen to learn and quick to gain an understanding of complex issues and concepts. Take personal responsibility for delivering high quality work and have a track record of outperformance and delivery. Be able to design and produce insightful regular reports and drive continuous improvement in these reports. Ability to thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment – ability to work closely with senior members of the team and the trading desks but also able to work independently.
