We are now looking for a
Design Engineer
to join our Design Engineering team working for a better future. The position is permanent and the preferred location is in Havant, UK.

At Wärtsilä Defence Solutions Limited (WDSL), we enhance the business of our customers by providing integrated systems, packages and products that offer lifecycle efficiency, decreased costs and reduced risks through the provision of reliable and environmentally sustainable products.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Naval market on military products and would suit someone early in their career post-graduation.
As Design Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
1. Communicate and provide effective solutions for the quotation, supply and operation of WDSL products within selected markets.
2. Produce manufacturing and purchasing technical specifications, such as detailed drawings and itemised component lists. Internally we use SolidEdge as our main design package and are transferring currently to SmartTEAM
3. Create and control technical support information to support the WDSL product portfolio.
4. Liaise with multiple stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure the project tasks are appropriately allocated and supported in line with the WDSL local process and procedures.
5. Support in effective analysis of operational processes and procedure to ensure effective delivery in line with project timescales whilst also delivering high quality designs.
6. Provide key support to intercompany account and end users as required on a national and international basis in order to fulfil support requirements.
7. Support in the reduction of operating costs by effective combination of quality designs and specifications.
8. Ensure compliance is maintained in line with ISO standards and correct health and safety practise and obligations are adhered to.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
9. A degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
10. A technical background within Mechanical Engineering Looking to progress to CEng status
11. Effective communicator with both internal and external customers Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
12. Excellent attention to detail with a structural and methodical approach to work tasks
13. Fluency in the English language, both verbal and written
14. Knowledge of the Marine industry is desired and experience with Seal and Bearings is extremely advantageous.
Please be advised that the successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance (SC) level for this role in the medium term. Additionally, they will be required to satisfy an initial BPSS clearance prior to commencing and should hold British nationality.
