Manufacturing: Tool Maker and Tool & Die Maintenance Technician - Level 3 Advanced Apprentice
A JLR Advanced Apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to expand your knowledge by learning cutting-edge concepts and technologies at college and applying them to real-world projects.
We’ll introduce you to the future of automotive technology, giving you the platform to make a meaningful impact on JLR and our customers. This programme enables you to achieve your Level 3 apprenticeship and earn a vocational qualification relevant to your chosen field.
The Level 3 Advanced Apprentice Manufacturing: Tool Maker and Tool & Die Maintenance Technician programme takes four years to complete and adheres to the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education (IfATE) Toolmaker and tool and die maintenance technician Standard (ST1370). This standard is currently under review therefore, for more details, please visit the IfATE apprenticeship standard webpage as this provides an overview of the toolmaker profession however, the correct standard is to be confirmed.
As an apprentice, you will develop the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours (KSBs) outlined in the apprenticeship standard. These will be assessed during your End Point Assessment (EPA), where you will demonstrate the competencies and skills you’ve gained throughout the programme.

Year 3 – Academic Knowledge and Competence Development
In your third year you will be developing your skills in plant and continue working towards your BTEC qualification, focusing on developing your skills beyond the basics and working on real-world projects on-site at JLR.
Year 4 – Continuation of Competence Development and End Point Assessment
In your final year, you’ll complete your apprenticeship and prepare for your End Point Assessment, supported every step of the way by your Early Careers Cohort Leader and ITM. This will consist of a technical interview including an opportunity to showcase your portfolio of the work you have undertaken at JLR.
Please note the delivery structure may be subject to change and will be confirmed upon joining us.
