The Admissions Counselor has the responsibility to promote the university and build relationships with university partners, generate interest from prospective students, and guide students and their families through important admission steps to ensure that enrollment goals are met. The counselor oversees recruitment and admissions efforts for a specific geographic region and is responsible for recruiting students and communicating the mission of Messiah University to prospective students and their families.
*Due to significant travel to college fairs, high schools, and interaction with the general public, this position strongly recommends that the candidate be fully vaccinated against the flu and COVID-19 prior to the start of the position.

Special Working Conditions
Must have a valid driver’s license and have the ability to travel frequently. There will be some evening and weekend commitments.
Primary Duties
1. Counsel potential students and their families for recruitment purposes in various settings on-campus and off-campus.
2. Manage a recruitment territory by generating interest and serving students from the prospect to the matriculation stages of college enrollment.
3. Work with supervisor in analyzing application and enrollment trends in order to develop appropriate territory recruitment strategies: assessing effectiveness and adjusting strategies as necessary.
4. Develop relationships with high school counselors, pastors, community organizations, alumni, and other college partners that can assist in the promotion of Messiah University in assigned geographic regions.
5. Develop a broad knowledge of the college’s academic programs and student services.
6. Answer questions via phone, email, text, and live chat in a timely manner.
7. Utilize technology as it relates to organization of data and manage daily responsibilities in the Customer Relationship Management system, Slate.
8. Plan and execute personal travel to high schools, college fair programs, conventions, music festivals, etc.
9. Review and make recommendations regarding applications from assigned recruitment territory.
10. Support the campus visit programs by leading information sessions and assisting in admissions event days, providing exceptional customer service to all students and guests.
11. Participate in meetings, committees, and special projects on behalf of the Office of Admissions as needed.
12. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
