Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with the team to design effective electrical systems for custom machinery.
2. Utilize knowledge of electrical systems to assist in developing project cost estimates.
3. Create detailed electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
4. Develop accurate bills of materials and collaborate with the office staff for procurement.
5. Develop PLC and HMI programs using Rockwell Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, and other similar software.
6. Ensure control panels comply with UL508A standards.
7. Interpret customer requirements through direct communication or written specifications.
8. Submit electrical design packages to clients and facilitate project approvals, including attending design reviews to provide feedback.
9. Manage electrical projects from initial concept through to completion.
10. Assemble or provide guidance to colleagues in building electrical control panels.
11. Wire and terminate sensors, electrical boxes, and other devices on machines.
12. Engage in technical communication with customers and vendors.
13. Provide technical support for both new and existing equipment installations.
14. Coordinate design efforts to align with production schedules and provide project updates to the project team.
15. Identify and implement improvements to enhance system safety, productivity, quality, and cost-efficiency.
16. Work with leaders and technicians to perform troubleshooting tasks and address recurring issues.
17. Analyze test data to ensure designs meet functional and performance specifications.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related engineering field with relevant electrical experience.
2. At least 4 years of electrical design experience in commercial or industrial system design or manufacturing.
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience with Rockwell Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View software.
4. Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical.
5. In-depth knowledge of electrical codes such as UL508A, NEC, and NFPA.
6. Strong mechanical aptitude demonstrated through previous work experience.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
8. Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage commitments.
9. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, vendors, and clients.
10. Familiarity with 480VAC, 240VAC, 120VAC, 24VDC systems, motor control, VFDs, sensors, and process instrumentation.
11. Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask.
12. Experience in field investigations, condition assessments, report writing, and client interfacing.
13. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and navigate rough terrain.
14. Willingness to occasionally travel for team meetings, client consultations, field surveys, and construction observation.
