Here within the Cancer Nursing Team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we are looking to recruit a dynamic registered nurse to the post of Band 6 Urology Cancer Specialist Nurse.
The role requires a nurse who can work autonomously within their scope of practice and support the team to deliver safe effective care to our patients. The appointee must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a diverse multi-disciplinary group of clinicians, patients, and allied healthcare providers.
You must be self-motivated, enthusiastic, organised, computer literate, and able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with a commitment to continued personal development.
This role will require flexibility and potential for cross-site working.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload.
The post holder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care. The post holder will provide specialist nursing care and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the specialty service. The post holder will ensure cost-effective use of resources. The post holder may be required to be a non-medical prescriber.
The main duties of the role are:
* Continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care.
* Provide specialist nursing care and advice to a specific patient group and contribute to the development of the specialty service while supporting the team to work to this high standard.

Person specification
Qualifications
* UK NMC Registered Nurse (Level 1)
* Diploma level education or equivalent
* Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
* Non-medical prescriber - as determined by the needs of the service
* Working towards degree or equivalent
Experience
* Experience at Band 5 or equivalent including within a relevant specialty
* Audit & Standard setting
* Service development and/or change management
Training
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Willing to undergo training as necessary

DBS Checks
Please be aware that all new employees starting work with us will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary either in 1 payment or over a six-month period once you start employment. By applying, you are agreeing to this undertaking.
