An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Head Orthoptist within NHS GGC Ophthalmology service. The Clyde Head post is one of 4 Heads within NHS GGC with the others being South Glasgow, North/East Glasgow and Royal Hospital for Children. We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic individual to take on this role. This full-time post is based at the RAH in Paisley, the role is responsible for covering a wide geographical area of Renfrewshire / Inverclyde / VOL and Argyll & Bute area. The post holder may be required to travel to these areas for clinics and may include overnight stays. The postholder will be responsible for the management, professional leadership and governance of the Orthoptic service in Clyde and the practice placements provided by the service. This includes safe and effective day to day operational management and clinical delivery of services in acute and community settings including pre-school vision screening in nurseries. They will contribute to workforce and strategic planning in conjunction with the CSM and AHP director. The post-holder will be responsible for developing and implementing local policies and contributing to national policies via their professional groups. The postholder will work at an advanced practitioner level with their own specialist caseload, acting as a source of expertise to orthoptic staff and the wider multi-disciplinary team.
