Job Title: Teacher of English Location: Southampton Salary: £30,000 - £46,535 per annum (MPS/UPS) (Depending on Experience) Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time/Part-time Start Date: Immediate Start/February 2025 Start As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering creative and engaging English lessons to students across KS3, KS4 and KS5. You will nurture students' abilities in both literature and language, helping them gain essential skills that will serve them well in their academic and personal lives. You will work to inspire confidence in students and create a stimulating learning environment that fosters a love of reading and critical thinking. Teacher of English Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons that engage students and encourage active participation. Teach literature and language, focusing on key skills such as reading comprehension, creative writing, and critical analysis. Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners, including students with varying abilities and needs. Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their academic development. Encourage a love of reading and writing through creative and interactive lessons. Promote literacy development across the curriculum and school. Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievements. Support students' emotional and social development through pastoral care. Participate in school-wide initiatives, extracurricular activities, and staff development opportunities. Qualification & Skills: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification is needed. A degree in English, English Literature, or a related field. Experience in teaching English at KS3, KS4 and KS5 is desirable. A passion for teaching English and inspiring students to achieve their full potential. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
