What you'll be doing
As a support worker within the Independent Living Service, no two days are ever the same, primarily you will be:
1. Working with people to support them live independently within their own homes.
2. Managing your own customer case load, building effective rapport and trust, allowing you to fully understand the needs of your customers.
3. You’ll work with diverse partner agencies to identify appropriate support to enable customers to successfully live independently.

4. We are looking for proactive and enthusiastic people with an approachable personality – these are the key core traits a successful Support Worker require.
5. You will be able to demonstrate excellent time management and organisation skills.
6. You’ll be comfortable with dealing with challenging conversations, remaining confident and firm, whilst being respectful and considerate.
7. You’ll have the skills to listen to and recognise what it is that our customers really want and be committed to achieving the best possible outcomes.
8. You will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of ICT Software such as Outlook and Microsoft Office. Experience of working with mobile Apps is desirable.
9. You will be able to work effectively, without judgement, but with a strong sense of professional boundaries.
10. You will understand the need for support planning, risk assessment and inspiring customers to recognise and achieve their goals.
11. You’ll have good resilience and an understanding of the issues faced by vulnerable adults living in the wider community.
12. This role will involve travel throughout B&NES predominantly but may include Bristol and North Somerset for annual leave cover. This means a driving license, access to transport with business insurance and ability to transport customers is essential.
You will need to complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check for this role which we will do for you when you start.
