A little more about your role…
We have retained the Shropshire Professional Service Contract with key local client, Shropshire Council, for another five years. We pride ourselves on the longevity of this contract, and the close working relationship we have developed over the last 23 years.
WSP works collaboratively as part of the Shropshire Alliance alongside Shropshire Council and Kier. We deliver a broad range of exciting projects, providing new and varied opportunities on this contract and within the wider WSP business.
Your team
The Structures team is busy with highway and rail bridge engineering work, delivering our annual programme of General & Principal Inspections for East Sussex Highways.
We are seeking an Inspector to join our Bridges team based in Ringmer, East Sussex.
You will be pivotal in planning and delivering a full programme of inspections and will use your knowledge and skills to deliver the right quality to time and budget. You will use those attributes to mentor and support more-junior team members in all aspects of bridge inspection work.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
1. A Relevant Degree or similar qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Building Inspection
2. Engineering Technician member of a relevant professional body or demonstrable equivalent experience
3. Evidence of directing the tasks of other technical staff.
4. Member of The Bridge Inspector Certification Scheme at Junior level
5. Experience of undertaking Principal Inspection, General Inspections and special inspections of Bridges and other Highway Structures to DMRB and the Inspection Manual for Highway Structures.
6. Work Independently and as part of a team to deliver bridge maintenance designs, resulting from bridge maintenance needs and operational works priorities.
7. Provide technical input to the agreement of project briefs, proposals, and deliverables with Project Managers.
8. Demonstrate compliance with Health, Safety and Welfare and CDM responsibilities.
9. Be an active and collaborative team member, and work with other disciplines, including the Client team.
10. Contribute to technical excellence and innovation within the team.
11. Take responsibility for own personal development; and developing others.
12. Experience of working to tight deadlines and to budget
