Are you an experienced engineer seeking your next challenge? Our client, a leading distributor of construction equipment, is looking for a skilled Field Service Engineer to help keep heavy machinery operating at peak performance.
Location:
Reporting to the Horsham depot, you’ll cover the vibrant South Coast, focusing on the Brighton and Worthing areas. Enjoy the independence of fieldwork with the reassurance of strong team support when you need it.
What You’ll Be Doing:
• Diagnose, service, and repair a range of construction equipment and machinery within your territory.
• Use advanced diagnostic tools to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
• Promote aftermarket solutions and identify revenue opportunities during customer visits.
• Act as the main point of contact for customers, ensuring satisfaction through clear communication and efficient service.
• Complete technical reports and real-time job updates using electronic timesheets.
• Manage parts ordering and returns to support efficient invoicing.
• Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues when needed.
What We’re Looking For:
• Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural, or HGV Mechanics.
• Experience: Background in maintaining and repairing heavy construction machinery.
• Skills: Strong diagnostic ability, particularly with diesel engines, hydraulics, drivetrains, and electrical systems.
• Technical Proficiency: Basic IT skills for diagnostic software and reporting.
• Must-Haves: Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
Desirable Skills:
• Welding and fabrication experience.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills in hydraulics, electrics, and emission after-treatment systems (EATS).
