Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and dedicated Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our team in delivering high-quality care in a care home setting.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting both residents and junior care staff, ensuring the well-being of those in our care, and leading by example.
This position requires advanced healthcare knowledge, strong leadership skills, and a genuine passion for making a positive impact on the lives of individuals in need of care.
Responsibilities
* Provide hands-on personal care to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and assistance with daily living activities.
* Support individuals with mobility and movement, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
* Oversee and assist in meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring residents’ nutritional needs are met.
* Lead the implementation and monitoring of personalized care plans, ensuring each resident's needs are met and exceeded.
* Supervise and guide junior healthcare assistants, offering mentorship and support as needed.
* Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in residents' conditions to senior staff and management.
* Facilitate social activities and provide companionship to enhance residents’ mental and emotional well-being.
* Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the living environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
* Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to ensure continuity of care and a collaborative approach to supporting residents.
* Act as a point of contact for residents’ families and provide regular updates on the care and progress of their loved ones.
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a care home or healthcare setting.
* Previous experience in a senior or supervisory role within the care sector is highly desirable.
* Strong understanding of care plans, healthcare protocols, and personal care techniques.
* Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication with residents, families, and colleagues.
* Ability to mentor and support less experienced staff, providing guidance and leadership.
* A caring and empathetic attitude with a commitment to delivering high-quality care.
* Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
* Familiarity with IT systems for record-keeping and communication purposes is desirable.
* A valid driving license may be beneficial for roles requiring travel between locations.
