Job description
As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant to join our close-knit team at Heath Farm School, part of Acorn Education.
We are looking for experienced Learning Support Assistants to support our teachers in taking a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, maximizing pupils' achievement and ability to develop.
This role is ideal for individuals motivated to inspire learning in pupils with varied and complex needs. Your work will be challenging and rewarding, and you will be working in a school with a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected, and involved in decisions.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work with individuals and small groups of pupils, preparing classrooms and materials, and building positive relationships to promote interaction and learning. You will assist in the planning and delivery of lessons in a creative and positive setting.
While previous experience in an SEN/ASC environment is desirable, excellent support skills, motivation, personal qualities, and resilience are equally important. These roles are suitable for those transitioning from customer-facing industries, such as retail or hospitality, seeking to make a real difference in pupils' lives.
We seek individuals who share our vision to empower vulnerable students in the UK to be happy and successful.
Minimum Requirements:
Educated to GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English, you will be calm, engaging, resilient, enjoy teamwork, and be genuinely motivated to help every pupil reach their potential.
About us
We are an independent SEN school that provides a unique and stimulating environment, enabling every pupil to make outstanding progress in their personal development and achieve educational success.
Our students present with a wide range of needs, including social and emotional issues, learning difficulties, and mental health problems. However, they achieve extraordinary outcomes and enjoy their time at school. All classes maintain excellent ratios of at least 2:1, students to adults, typically consisting of 6-8 students.
As an independent SEN school, we are free from the bureaucracy found in many other schools, allowing us to adopt effective and tailored initiatives that prioritize the needs of our students.
Acorn Education is the UK’s leading independent provider of specialist education for vulnerable pupils. As part of Outcomes First Group, we are at the forefront of delivering new approaches that yield measurable outcomes for those in our care.
In 2024, Outcomes First Group was certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for the fifth consecutive year.
