The Institute of Education, Arts and Society of the University of Cumbria is developing our portfolio of Degree Level Apprenticeships and is seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer in Digital Degree Level Apprenticeships.
We are excited to be launching our two new Professional Degree Level Apprenticeship for 2025-26: Creative Digital Design and Digital User Experience (UX). The successful candidate will lead in the design, delivery, employer liaison, and management of the Digital Apprenticeship portfolio. They will have experience of learning and teaching in related digital design subject areas such as graphic design and UX/UI design and have experience of working within academic teams in the Higher Education sector. They will hold a commitment to the philosophy of user-centred design. The post holder will work alongside other academics in the undergraduate Arts provision and collaborate in and contribute to the delivery of the wider arts portfolio.
The role will involve regular meetings with apprentices and their employers to provide support and advice and to monitor progress against the apprenticeship standards. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. The role holder will be based at the Brampton Road Campus in Carlisle.
The successful candidate will:
1. Work as part of a team developing and delivering high-quality academic provision, taking a lead role in certain areas as required (e.g. module leadership);
2. Implement teaching and learning, widening participation, and other strategies to effect the provision of high-quality learning and opportunities and the best possible student experience;
3. Be involved in appropriate external activities including employer engagement activity;
4. Engage in subject, professional, and pedagogy research as required to support teaching activities and to extend, transform, and apply knowledge acquired from scholarship to teaching and research as appropriate.
The successful candidate will be part of the academic team in creative arts and media and will be supported by our University of Cumbria Apprenticeship Management Team. We welcome applications from individuals with experience of working in HE and from those with experience in visual communication, service design, creative digital design, and UX/UI design. The successful post holder will be confident, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about Degree Level Apprenticeships. They will be professional in liaising with and engaging employers and dedicated to supporting apprentices and managing the quality assurance aspects of Degree Level Apprenticeships. It is desirable to have awareness or experience of OFSTED.
