Job description The Senior Health, Safety and Environmental Protection (HS&EP) Advisor is a newly created role which is central to SSG's Governance and Assurance group. Championing HS&EP and Climate Change & Sustainability (CC&S) across diverse locations and activities, you'll drive compliance, lead improvements and embed a proactive safety culture while aligning SSG's operations with MOD's sustainability targets. Key Responsibilities: Leadership: Drive HS&EP excellence and promote strong collaboration across teams. Health, Safety & Environmental Protection: Conduct assurance checks, manage H&S/OH&S risk assessments and coordinate the management and investigation of reported incidents, while ensuring compliance with MOD policies. Provide advice on the formulation and implementation of HS&EP policy and practices, developing a programme of continuous improvement to ensure we are operating safely. Produce management reports and recommendation, engaging with wider audits. Climate Change & Sustainability: Develop and manage SSG's Sustainability Policy and seek new initiatives to reduce SSG's environmental impact. Continuous Improvement: Support change programs and maintain compliance with BSI ISO 45001/9001 accreditations. Governance & Reporting: Provide expert advice, manage audits, and produce performance reports for senior partners. Keep up to date with department and wider policies and processes. Person specification Proven HS&EP experience, ideally within the MOD or similar organisation. Effective analytical skills in order to deliver briefings on HS&EP to HMG and Head SSG to support decisions including prioritisation and resourcing. An understanding/interest of CC&S and MODs impact. Excellent communication skills to undertake complex discussions and process reviews with SSG Operations, HQ employees and wider collaborators. Be self-motivated and have excellent organisational skills. A willingness to learn unfamiliar areas.
