You will prepare food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring or breading and will weigh, measure and assemble ingredients for regular menu items; set up and replenish salad bar; portion foods for distribution and meal service, and cover, date and store leftovers according to established procedures. In addition, you will wash and clean kitchen equipment. Your hours of work will be 39 hours per week on an as rostered schedule (this will be working any 5 days out of 7) (between 0630-1400 ) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization’s flexible working policies. You will be on a rostered schedule. You will be working in a hot and noisy kitchens, exposed to steam, fumes and odors. There is a danger of falling, burns and cuts. You will be exposed to extreme temperatures when entering walk-in refrigerators or freezer units and subject to possible cuts from knives or burns from steam, hot foods, stoves and hot grease and water. For specific qualification requirements for this position, you can visit: Federal Wage System Qualifications About you: You will need have knowledge of the methods and procedures relating to food presentation and be able to follow oral and written instructions, work safely and do simple arithmetic. Youmust have experience in, and knowledge of, methods and procedures relating to food preparation and presentation gained in a grill, snack bar, restaurant, club or similar food activity. You will need to be able to follow oral and written instructions, work safely, and do simple arithmetic. Knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment, characteristics of various foods, and the ability to season food and decide when foods are done is required. You must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time. You must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical and to obtain a Food Handler’s Certificate and/or complete food handler's training. Other significant facts about the role: You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
