Director of People & Culture Halesowen College
Join Halesowen College as the new Director of People & Culture to support and influence the College, the people and the students to realise every opportunity to become ‘Exceptional’.
Who we are.
At its heart, Halesowen College is a tertiary college offering young people a wide range of opportunities to follow either academic or vocational pathways. 16-18 learners form most of our learner body, and we intend that to remain the case even as we grow and diversify further. We are a college that aims to be exceptional.
We actively promote equality, welcome all learners whose needs we can meet and strive to make our College a “learning village” where learners of all levels, backgrounds and disciplines mix freely and benefit from contact with each other.
About the role.
Halesowen College has a clear and simple vision – to be exceptional. We will do this through the delivery of first-class skills and education to young people and adults to support our local employers and our community by providing a talent pipeline. Our values are inclusion, ambition, care and respect.
The Director of People & Culture will be our strategic expert in people relations, with a natural ability to coach and support their direct reports and wider leadership colleagues. The person appointed will build on the success of our outgoing Director of HR and push forward with our people strategy – achieving significant developments around:
* Attraction and recruitment of talented and diverse staff
* Providing a fantastic employee journey
* Building a sense of belonging through a fully engaged workforce and a culture of inclusion and well-being
* Enhancing our learning culture and enabling everyone to thrive
* Supporting and leading change where necessary
* Delivering a business partnering service to drive organisational effectiveness
* Enabling leaders to build a high-performing culture
* Building trust and respect through positive employer relations
* Recognising and rewarding staff to feel valued and motivated
Who we are looking for.
As the most senior leader with responsibility for people services, organisational development, culture, and change, we require a talented senior leader who can add value to Halesowen College and our employee experience. It is important that the person appointed brings personal experience of working at a strategic level as part of their organisation’s senior team or has the ambition and track record to take the next step on the career ladder.
You will need to be a visionary leader who can help us to do even better so that Halesowen College becomes an employer of choice in both the FE sector and the region. Skilled in coaching, we need you to be people-focused to get the best out of others.
Our most important stakeholders are our students, and many of them come from deprived socio-economic backgrounds. We have a significant job to do in order to help influence their futures, and we can only achieve this if our talented staff team are engaged, developed, and happy in their work.
