Circa £55,000 dependent on skills & experience Permanent, Full time, 37 hours per week Location: Your work location can be flexible within the Anglian region, the successful applicant will be expected to attend meetings at Cambridge on a weekly basis In this exciting role you will develop up to managing a small team of technical experts around all things abstraction compliance, regulation and monitoring. You will need to ensure that the team are managing the needs tactically and that you are working closely with the Abstraction Reform Lead/ Water Resources Environment Manager on the strategic changes. This is a critical role to ensure Anglian Water ensure sustainable abstraction across the East of England. This role will be critical in using data to help the wider business make critical decisions around abstraction management. The work undertaken directly links to the Environmental Performance Assessment (EPA) performance for the business and our regulatory compliance with the Water Resources Act. What will you be doing? You will be the face of the team, using your strengths in communication and engagement alongside having excellent technical understanding. You will play an active role in working collaboratively with stakeholders internally and externally such as The Environment Agency, Water Supply, Water Resources and many others. You will also be key in ensuring all elements of abstraction compliance performance are captured and are being delivered by the business. You will be confident chairing meetings, writing procedures and work instructions and supporting understanding and embedding change in other teams. You will be key in progressing improving data systems to reduce manual processes and risk of human error. What does it take to be an Abstraction Compliance Manager? You will need to be confident in working independently informing and driving change/ improvements needed in the wider business, working with a large number of teams and people. You will ideally have a technical data systems background (ideally in Water / regulation) in order to offer technical support to your team. You will become an expert on abstraction licence compliance and regulation surrounding it. In an ever-changing regulatory environment, they will also need to adapt to changing regulations and imbedding changes, such as EPR which will take over from abstraction licences in the near future. Needing to keep up to speed and influencing the policy landscape relating to abstraction management is a requirement. Experience of report writing is preferred.
