Create Solutions that will enable a better tomorrow To further strengthen our Rail team, we are looking for a Principal Drainage Engineer to join us. You'll be working across a portfolio of rail projects across the UK, as well as the opportunity to support across different sectors and our projects across the globe. Your key responsibilities will be: Acting as CRE (Design) to manage discipline delivery through the Network Rail assurance process, including application of the Network Rail acceptance, review, derogation and non-compliance processes Managing and coordinating delivery of your projects to time and budget, ensuring a high standard of technical quality and compliance with our internal management systems across the entire project lifecycle from feasibility to detailed design, including site supervision where required. Production of drainage designs, assessments or checking work, including preparation or checking of calculations, written reports, specifications and other contract deliverables Ensuring that design, assessments and checking of designs are in accordance with the current Standards, Codes of Practice and Best Practice Supervising a team of engineers and technicians, mentoring, and developing less experienced engineers and technicians within your project teams, working with line managers to maximise training and development opportunities. Developing and maintaining Client relationships through your project work, including identifying and realising any potential business opportunities Assisting with the preparation of bids and tenders and supporting the Directors in pursuing business development opportunities Your skills. On top of that, you’ll have: Achieved Chartered Engineer (C.Eng) status with experience working on multi-disciplinary projects in a railway design and build environment, including understanding engineering interdependencies across the project life cycle Evidence of undertaking previous CRE(Drainage) roles under the Engineering Management for Project standard (NR/L2/RSE/02009) Evidence of leading teams and working in multi-disciplinary projects in rail, highways, or water sectors. Skilled analytical ability and a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, current design standards and the latest drainage design tools and software Experience of undertaking or specifying drainage surveys Experience of catchment analysis, hydraulic design, pumping station design and legislative requirements The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with the design team, clients and contractors Good team leadership skills with the ability to support, mentor and develop less experienced engineers A sound understanding and experience in the application of the CDM Regulations and risk assessment process including knowledge of current standards and legislation, including application of the Common Safety Method Full UK Driving Licence A place to work and so much more.
