Job Summary
The opportunity has arisen to employ Dietetic Support Workers to work under the direction of the Highly Specialist Public Health Dietitian.
They will work to deliver the All Wales Diabetes Prevention Programme across the health board.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 11 months to meet the needs of the service.

Main Duties of the Job
1. To undertake necessary training on diabetes prevention, motivational interviewing, and behaviour change strategies.
2. To work with GP practices to identify and engage with eligible service users.
3. To support and assist the project team in the provision of a comprehensive diabetes prevention programme for those at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
4. To work safely and appropriately as part of the project team.
5. To plan and prioritise workload on a day-to-day basis under the supervision of the qualified staff.
6. To offer onward referrals to service users to relevant support services, including weight management and physical activity.
7. To accurately record consultations on the relevant IT system, with the guidance of a data entry template.
8. To be competent in measuring height and weight, as well as calculating and interpreting body mass index.
9. To undertake the inputting of data into evaluation databases.
10. To participate in team meetings to discuss programme progress and ensure that feedback is given to relevant bodies or groups.
11. To respect and adhere to the code of confidentiality.
12. To promote and support service users' rights, by promoting individual choice and respecting their beliefs.

Qualifications
Essential:
* Working at NVQ level 3 in Health or Health and Social Care (or equivalent) Physiological measurements training.
Desirable:
* Health and Safety training.
* Infection control training.
* First Aid training.
Experience

* Previous relevant experience of working within health care settings.
Desirable:
* Ability to speak Welsh.

* A high level of interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to engage members of the public. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
